In grilling, you must know and have the right type of grill just for you and your needs and preferences. You should consider many factors when you buy a grill. It is not enough to just buy whatever you see, or just buy based on your impulse. You must always consider the cost, the ease of using it, other features or uses besides being able to grill food, portability and you should not forget that the flavor of the food should not be sacrificed. So, which of the following grills will fit what you need and want in a grill: charcoal grill, propane grill, natural gas grill, or smokers?
Most consumers’ first consideration in buying is the price or cost of the item. If you are after the affordability, the charcoal grill is the first in the list. Charcoal grills price range from $15 for a small grill and $30 for a kettle grill with a standard size of 22”. While propane grills cost a bit higher, price can start at $100 for a basic grill. Then next is the small smoker which costs around $130. Natural gas grills are more expensive at $300 per unit and the most expensive can reach up to $450 and above, this is due to the fact that they are larger units which are attached and connected to the gas line at home. There are also units available which have dual fuel grills and you can use either propane gas or natural gas.
You also want to have easy time grilling and the easiest grill to use is a natural gas grill. You don’t have to purchase a large propane tank regularly because it is connected to your gas line at home. It is also easier to have a grill which is powered by battery or electricity. The next grill that is easy to use are propane grills because you won’t need charcoal briquettes or wood to fire up and ashes to clean afterwards. Others may think that using a larger grill is easy but this also means that you have to clean a larger area.
Some grills offer and include additional features that are useful. Natural gas grills or propane grills have additional cooking spaces that are not included in charcoal grills or smokers. So if you want to cook full meals the presence of gas burners and a warming tray will be the best feature for you. There are also those grills which have rotisserie features which can also be important and helpful.
Of course you would not want the taste and flavor of your food to be sacrificed. So if you want to retain the food’s flavor and natural taste, a charcoal grill or a smoker is first on your list. Smokers give a smoky flavor to the meats you grill, you can use the type of wood that will give you the flavor and smoky taste you want. But the problem is that it takes time to cook meat with smokers so if you want to cook quickly and in a rush, smokers may not be really dependable. Charcoal also brings out the natural taste of the food.
If you want a portable grill, then propane grills are the best option because of the small propane tanks that you will use, you will not worry about the mess. Charcoal grills follow next though you should consider the briquettes and the cleaning part you have to do after the grilling and cooking.
